With the Epiq, Škoda is preparing to launch its most affordable fully electric model. Positioned below the Enyaq and Elroq, this new urban SUV is designed to appeal to a wider audience in an increasingly competitive segment. Production will begin in June 2026 in Pamplona, Spain, and the model will hit our roads next September. We had the opportunity to take a first look at this model, whose shape is still a secret.
The Epiq is an important milestone in the manufacturer’s development. It is the first production model to fully integrate Škoda’s new design language called ‘Modern Solid’. It heralds a new identity that is both purist and more robust. It is based on the MEB+ platform, which was developed for the new generation of compact electric vehicles. It will be based on the same structure as the Cupra Raval or Volkswagen’s ID. Polo.
Design and ergonomics
In terms of design, the Epiq combines smooth surfaces, striking shapes and a T-shaped light signature – a first for Škoda, which is set to become a visual trademark of future models.
The front end features the ‘Tech Deck Face’, a modern evolution of the traditional radiator grille, combined with lower-set headlights that are less likely to dazzle other drivers. Details of the bodywork are not yet known, but overall the Epiq presents itself as dynamic and contemporary.
In the interior, which we unfortunately cannot show, Škoda has focused on simple ergonomics and intelligent storage solutions. For example, the famous umbrella is located in the door and the ice scraper in the boot. In line with this clever storage solution, Škoda also offers an accessory storage bag that attaches to the back of the rear seats and is used to store cables. The materials used are still predominantly plastic, but still look and feel high-quality. The controls in the interior are well thought out. The only downside is that the controls for the driver assistance systems, such as cruise control, are not located on the steering wheel, but on a lever behind the steering wheel.
The Epiq is 4.17 metres long (7 cm shorter than its big brother, the Kamiq) and 1.8 metres wide, with a height of 1.6 metres. This ‘small’ SUV offers a boot capacity of 475 litres and a 60-litre frunk, which further increases the storage space. The interior is quite spacious, even for rear passengers.
Up to 430 km range
From a technical perspective, the Epiq will be available in three versions (Epiq 30, Epiq 40 and Epiq 55). The first two will be equipped with a 37 kWh battery for a range of 310 km (WLTP) and a 52 kWh battery for a range of 430 km (WLTP). The Czech manufacturer promises fast charging in 28 minutes or 23 minutes, depending on the battery. In terms of performance, the most powerful version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds, while the least powerful version takes 11 seconds. The top speed is between 150 and 160 km/h. The power output is 85 kW for the Epiq 30, 99 kW for the Epiq 40 and 155 kW for the Epiq 55. In our test, which took place mainly in city traffic, the Epiq had a consumption of 12.6 kWh.
On the road, the few kilometres we were able to test it showed quite comfortable handling. The quiet and smooth character of the electric car is present, and the car is quite manoeuvrable and suitable for narrow streets. Driving mode B with recuperation allows you to drive with just one pedal, which is always pleasant.
Finally, the price remains unknown. Škoda had promised a car for €25,000, but the manufacturer has not confirmed this information, nor has it confirmed the equipment variants for this price. So we will have to wait a few more weeks, as production is scheduled for next June.
In summary, if Škoda keeps its price promise, the Epiq will be an interesting choice for people looking for a modern, simple but practical 100% electric car for everyday use.

The Epiq is Škoda’s first production vehicle developed entirely in line with our new strategy: a modern, solid design based on a completely new design language. It combines the characteristics of an SUV with an overall robust appearance. Specifically, this means a bold silhouette, a dominant structure, a very distinctive main volume and an aerodynamic cabin above it. The aim is to combine Škoda’s typical practicality and functionality with a strong visual expression.
This work began in 2022 with the Vision 7S. Based on these concepts, our new design language has established itself. Elements of this modernity were already found in the Enyaq and Elroq, but only partially, especially at the front.
We have fundamentally redesigned the traditional Škoda radiator grille. It has now been replaced by the so-called Tech Deck: a polycarbonate part into which technological elements such as radar and front camera are integrated. As you know, Škoda traditionally divides the headlights. We are retaining this trademark feature: everyday functions at the bottom, main functions at the top. This creates a very distinctive double optical module that creates an inviting face that corresponds to the ‘Modern Solid’ identity while remaining true to the brand’s SUV DNA.

What I like best is its simplicity. We deliberately reduced the number of lines to a minimum – nothing is superfluous, everything has its reason, everything has a function. The result is a purist, proud, honest and visually very dominant car. I also like the fact that it looks bigger than it actually is. As we are a very family-oriented brand, we always strive to offer maximum space, and this should also be reflected on the outside. When you compare it to its thermal counterpart, the Kamiq, which we often refer to, you get the impression that the Epiq is significantly more imposing. In terms of dimensions, however, they are very similar.
I’m really proud of the front of the car. The lower bumper is particularly expressive: we call it the “volcano” – you’ll understand why when you see it. It has a very strong, very static, almost protective aura.

This question is more about brand identity. Every manufacturer has its own DNA. We are one of the oldest car brands in the world, and this heritage is deeply rooted in our products. For example, the Epiq features Škoda’s signature wing-like line, which we use throughout our visual identity. It appears on the bonnet, is emphasised by the tech deck and can even be found on the rims.
Our team feels very connected to this DNA – we like to say that we have ‘green blood’ because Škoda has always been associated with the colour green.
Every brand expresses its identity differently: some emphasise emotions, others sportiness. At Škoda, our goal is to build beautiful, functional and discreetly intelligent cars: cars that you use every day without thinking about it – like a partner, a friend, a reliable tool. That’s something that has always been part of who we are.
