The new Volkswagen Tayron TDI is a versatile SUV, ideal for families and leisure enthusiasts.

With seven seats, a spacious interior and solid performance, it promises to meet the needs of large families without being extravagant.

Launched in 2025 and produced in Wolfsburg, the Tayron slots in between the Touareg and Tiguan in the German brand’s range. It is designed for large families, as it is available as a seven-seater. The diesel version is particularly suitable for long-distance drivers.

The 4.79-metre-long model is characterised by its clean lines and the LED headlights at the front, which are accompanied by an illuminated Volkswagen logo. At the rear, an LED bar extends across the entire width of the vehicle, reinforcing the modern and dynamic appearance.

The interior of the Tayron offers optimal comfort. With five seats as standard and seven seats as an option, there is enough space for large groups without having to compromise on luggage space. With five seats, the boot offers a generous volume of 885 litres, which can be increased to 2,090 litres by folding down the rear seat. Even with the seventh seat, the volume is still a respectable 345 litres. The modularity of the two bench seats is remarkable, allowing for numerous uses.

Under the bonnet, the Tayron is equipped with a 2.0-litre diesel engine from the EA288 evo series, which is available in two power levels: 110 kW (150 PS) and 142 kW (193 PS). The 142-kW engine is coupled with the 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Combined fuel consumption is between 6.8 and 6.1 l/100 km. CO₂ emissions are between 180 and 162 g/km. The engine delivers a maximum torque of 400 Nm between 1,750 and 3,250 rpm, which helps the SUV to a top speed of 221 km/h.

The 110 kW version, on the other hand, drives the front axle and develops a maximum torque of 360 Nm between 1,600 and 2,750 rpm with combined consumption of just 5.4 l/100 km. On the road, the Tayron is agile and responsive, with excellent manoeuvrability on a variety of terrain. Its towing capacity of up to 2,500 kilograms makes it a suitable candidate for caravanning fans.

The model is well equipped in terms of technology, with an infotainment system featuring a 32-centimetre screen, App-Connect Wireless and digital dials. Driving aids include adaptive cruise control (ACC), emergency braking with pedestrian detection and a parking assistant.

The Tayron can be customised to suit your needs: the Life, Elegance and R-Line variants offer different levels of equipment. Elegance and R-Line have distinctive design elements and additional features that provide greater comfort and safety.

Conclusion: the spacious interior, off-road capabilities and numerous driver assistance systems make the model a coherent choice for anyone looking for a family car. The model is also available as a hybrid and petrol.
