With Polygon, Peugeot unveils its vision of the future and announces the main features of the next 208, scheduled for release in 2027. With its bold design, innovative technologies and redesigned ergonomics, this concept car not only impresses, it paves the way for tomorrow.

Polygon marks a stylistic break. Its clean geometric lines and luminous grille with three horizontal claws subtly recall the Peugeot 205 and 405, without falling into retro-futurism. This nod to the past is accompanied by a modern ambition: this signature could well become the emblem of the future 208.

At the rear, a large customisable light panel evokes the world of sport and rallying. It is unlikely to be used as is in production, but it illustrates the direction Peugeot wants to take with its future models: dynamic and technological.

Hypersquare: the steering wheel that changes everything

Another major innovation is the Hypersquare steering wheel. Rectangular and futuristic, it replaces the traditional steering column with Steer-by-Wire technology. The mechanical link is replaced by electronic steering, which is more precise and adaptable. At low speeds, rotation is limited to 170°, making manoeuvring easier. At high speeds, the response is immediate and vibration-free, offering a more stable and secure driving experience.

This steering wheel also features four touch-sensitive areas for controlling essential functions. Peugeot promises an intuitive experience, while giving drivers the option of keeping a conventional steering wheel. Initial feedback has been positive, but we will have to wait for road tests to confirm these impressions.

A differently designed interior

Polygon breaks with interior conventions: no glove compartment or traditional storage spaces, but modular fastenings for everyday objects. On the technology front, Peugeot has gone all out with a 31-inch panoramic screen, extended by information projected onto the windscreen. Total immersion for the driver.

The seats focus on lightness and comfort. Their openwork structure, inspired by contemporary furniture, reduces weight while offering excellent support. The materials are durable and recyclable, in line with the concept’s eco-responsible philosophy.

A glimpse of the future

Polygon is not just an exercise in style: it heralds strong trends. While not all innovations will make it into production, the next 208 will inherit several key elements, including the Hypersquare steering wheel and the new visual identity. Peugeot thus confirms its ambition: to reinvent driving and design for more intuitive and connected mobility.

With Polygon, Peugeot is not just designing a car: it is sketching out the future of the brand. And while this concept is already appealing, the real question is: what will the 208 of 2027 look like?
